A tale from our core book pack

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

  • Read the story to your child
  • What came out of the little egg?
  • Why did the caterpillar look for some food?
  • Why did the caterpillar have a tummy ache?
  • What did he eat that made him feel better?
  • Count together how many things the caterpillar ate on Saturday?
  • Can you remember the name of the house the caterpillar built around itself?
  • What did the caterpillar turn into?

Beyond The Very Hungry Caterpillar

  • Talk together about what your favourite foods are.
  • Talk about the butterfly lifecycle: remember, first the egg, then the caterpillar, then the cocoon, then the butterfly. Can your child remember the sequence?
  • Together put the numbers 1 to 5 in order
